Lenten Schedule (Week One)


Tomorrow, February 18, 2018, is Forgiveness Sunday. The next day we begin our Lenten Journey with prayer, fasting, and alms as seek purity of heart in preparation for the Resurrection of Christ, which we celebrate on Pascha, April 8. The first week the monastery will be closed to the public to devote ourselves to deeper prayer. Below is our monastic schedule for most of Great Lent.

Schedule for Great Lent (2018)

Sunday

5 p.m. Forgiveness Vespers

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

7:30 a.m. ​ Matins, First, Third, and Sixth Hours (reading of The Ladder)

2 p.m. Ninth Hour, Typica, Vespers

6 p.m. Great Compline (Great Canon, 1st and 5th weeks)

Wednesday, Friday

Same as above, but add Pre-Sanctified Liturgy at 2:00 pm

* Friday 6:00 p.m. Small Compline with Akathist *

Saturday

7:30 a.m. Matins, with Divine Liturgy (followed by brunch)

5:00 p.m. Meal

6:00 p.m. Vespers

Sunday

8:30 a.m. Matins

10:00 am Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great

Noon Brunch

5:00 p.m. Dinner

6:00 p.m. Vespers

Note: Pan-Orthodox Vespers in Kansas City is at 5 pm
